MBAFPI stands for Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute. This institute admits Punjab domicile girls post +2 or class XII. The MBAFPI has been set up by Punjab government. This highly unique and innovative, first of its kind initiative in the country for the girls aspiring for an officer’s career in the armed forces. The Institute is named after famed Sikh warrior Mai Bhago Ji.
MBAFPI is laid out on a sprawling 8 acres beautifully landscaped area in Sector 66, SAS Nagar, Mohali.
MBAFPI is a very recent institute. Within a few years, it has earned good reputation in the region and interested students are increasing every passing year. It was inaugurated by The Hon’ble Defence Minister at that time, Shri Manohar Parrikar, with its first batch of 25 Lady Cadets on 25 Jul 2015.

No, MBAFPI is not an undergraduate college. For graduation degree, MBAFPI is associated with MCM DAV College Sector, 36, Chandigarh which is one of the premier college of the region. The graduation degree is awarded by MCMDAV College. MBAFPI provides all the other preparations related to written examinations, SSB training, Personal Interview, Guidance and counseling.
Around 2000 girl students appear for the written examination. Out of this around 120-150 candidates are shortlisted for Physical Assessment and Personal Interview. Final Selection list consist of 25 candidates and wait list of 10-15 candidates.
MBAFPI admissions procedure consists of following 4-stage process: (a) Stage I – Issue of Advertisement / Notification. It happens between 15 th Feb to 15 th Mar of the year. (b) Stage II -- On Line application, Examination Fee deposit, Acknowledgement and acceptance of application and issuance of Roll number & admit card. It happens till around 15 th April. (c) Stage III -- Conduct of written examination and declaration of result. It happens by 10 th May. (d) Stage IV -- Interviews including Physical test, psychometric tests etc. Issue of final merit list for selection along with the wait list. It happens by 15 th June.
Yes. The notification is usually released between 15 th Feb to 15 th March. The admissions advertisements is typically released in English, Punjabi and Hindi leading news papers of the region. The application process is online. For the 2019 session, the online application registration process will start from 4 th March.

There are no Board restrictions. Students from any Board i.e. CBSE, ICSE, State Board or IB can appear in the examination.
Different branches of Armed forces i.e., Army, Navy and Air Force provide respective criteria in their recruitment notifications. Students applying for Mai Bhago AFPI will however be required to meet the service criteria at the time of application.
MBAFPI is a fully residential Institute with all the modern day facilities. It has an ultra modern gym, swimming pool, shooting and other field sports facilities.
The Institute has facilities for Sports and Physical Fitness, Personality Development, Communication Skills, Grooming, Extra Curricular Activities, National Cadet Corps (NCC). It also provides professional Training and preparation for SSB Interview.
The entrance examination will be a 2-hour test and will comprise of two distinct parts: General English and General Awareness. The level of the questions will be as per XII level. The questions will be objective MCQ types. The Question Paper will be set in English language only. It will have a total of 100 questions in two parts: 50 Questions in General English and 50 Questions in General Awareness. Maximum marks are 400 and each question will carry 4 marks.
There will be one negative mark for each wrong answer.
There is no prescribed syllabus as such. The entrance test has two sections – English and General Awareness. The questions being asked are of +2 level. English contains questions on grammar, Antonyms, Synonyms, Usage, Error, Reading Comprehension. General Awareness section has questions on Economics, Polity, Judiciary, Current Affairs, History, Geography, Government Schemes etc.
